Nurse resume example

A nursing resume has to prove two things quickly: that you are licensed and ready to work, and that you give safe, caring treatment under pressure. This example puts licenses where recruiters look first and backs up clinical skills with numbers.

How to write it

Make licenses easy to find

Recruiters check them first. Give the license type and where it is valid, and list current certifications such as BLS or ACLS in their own section.

Describe your unit

Say what kind of unit you worked on, how many beds it had and how many patients you cared for per shift. It tells the reader at once what you can handle.

Show impact with numbers

Fewer errors, shorter waits, better patient satisfaction: a measured improvement turns a duty into an achievement.

Match the job ad

Hospitals often filter applications by keywords. Use the ad's own words for the specialty, the systems and the certifications it asks for.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Forgetting to say where your license is valid.
  • Listing every procedure you have seen instead of the ones you perform confidently.
  • Writing a general summary that could fit any nurse. Name your specialty and setting.
